We are a family-owned furniture design and woodworking studio, TAFI Made, based in North Carolina — a region long recognized as the heart of American furniture craftsmanship. For generations, North Carolina has been home to skilled artisans, hardwood forests and a culture that values things made by hand and built to last. It is here that we continue our family tradition, blending traditional woodworking values with modern engineering to create timeless solid wood furniture and precision-built audiophile furniture for people who demand more from their living spaces and their sound systems.

My story begins far from here, in a small town in Eastern Siberia. I grew up in a family of woodworkers, where furniture was never disposable and craftsmanship was a way of life. Since 1981, my grandfather and father built furniture from Siberian cedar and larch — trees known for their strength, stability and character. Their workshop became my second home. I learned early how to read the grain of wood, how to work patiently, and how to respect the material rather than force it. The scent of fresh shavings, the rhythm of hand tools and the satisfaction of transforming raw wood into something meaningful shaped the way I understand craftsmanship to this day.

As the years passed, mass-produced furniture flooded the global market. Speed replaced care, shortcuts replaced skill and quality often gave way to cost reduction. Furniture became something temporary — designed for trends, not for decades of use. Watching this shift made one thing clear to me: the tradition of building solid wood furniture with intention, honesty, and long-term value was slowly disappearing.

When my family and I moved to the United States in 2016, I felt a strong responsibility to preserve the craft I grew up with — and to apply it in a meaningful, modern way. North Carolina felt like the natural place to do this. Surrounded by exceptional American hardwoods such as white oak, walnut, maple, and ash, we opened our own workshop and began creating furniture made entirely from solid wood. Just carefully selected lumber, thoughtful design and precise execution.

Music has always been an important part of our lives, so our evolution into audiophile furniture felt natural. As high-end audio systems became more refined, it became clear that traditional furniture was not designed to support their performance. Vibrations, resonance and poor structural design can compromise even the best components. This realization led us to develop audio racks, amplifier stands, isolation platforms and audio furniture that combine acoustic engineering with fine woodworking.

Our audiophile pieces are engineered to control vibration, provide structural stability, and allow audio equipment to perform at its full potential. At the same time, they are designed as real furniture — pieces that belong in a living space, not just a listening room. We believe high-end audio deserves furniture that performs as well as it looks.

Every TAFI Made piece is designed and built in-house, one at a time. We focus on thoughtful proportions, clean lines, and construction methods that prioritize strength and longevity. Wood is a living material, and we allow for its natural movement, ensuring stability across seasons and years. Finishes are carefully selected to enhance the grain and character of the wood while remaining durable and repairable.

Whether we are building a nightstand, a media cabinet, an isolation platform, or a full audio rack, our approach remains the same: precision, respect for the material, and attention to detail at every stage. These values were passed down to me by my grandfather and father, and they guide every decision we make in our workshop today.
