The Intersection of Sound and Soul

Ted Chuchkov, founder of TAFI Made, crafting solid wood audio furniture in North Carolina.

TAFI Made designs and builds solid wood audiophile furniture, including precision-engineered audio racks, amplifier stands and isolation platforms. Based in the heart of North Carolina’s woodworking tradition, we create furniture-grade solutions that eliminate vibration and resonance, allowing your high-end audio system to reach its full potential.

Our Heritage: From Siberia to North Carolina

My story begins in 1981 in a small town in Eastern Siberia. Growing up in a family of woodworkers, I learned that furniture was never meant to be disposable. My father and grandfather worked with Siberian cedar and larch—woods chosen for their incredible stability and character. In their workshop, I learned to read the grain and respect the material.

In 2016, my family moved to the United States. We settled in North Carolina, drawn by the region’s legendary craftsmanship and access to exceptional American hardwoods like walnut, white oak, maple, and ash. Today, we blend those traditional Siberian values with modern engineering to preserve a craft that is slowly disappearing in the age of mass production.

Why Audiophile Furniture?

Music is the heartbeat of our home. As we refined our own high-end audio systems, we realized that standard furniture often compromises sound quality. Vibrations and poor structural integrity can muffle the clarity of even the best components.

We evolved our craft to solve this problem. Every TAFI Made audio rack and isolation platform is a marriage of acoustic engineering and fine woodworking. Our pieces are designed to:

  • Control resonance through high-mass solid wood construction.
  • Provide structural stability for heavy tube amps and turntables.
  • Enhance living spaces with a timeless aesthetic that belongs in a home, not just a studio.

Selecting the Right Wood for Sound

Not all wood is created equal when it comes to hi-fi. We carefully select North Carolina hardwoods based on density and grain structure. For example, Oak is prized in the audiophile community for its hardness and ability to dissipate energy, while Walnut offers a rich, warm aesthetic without sacrificing the rigidity needed for heavy amplifiers. This attention to material science is what sets a TAFI Made piece apart from mass-market furniture.

Handcrafted Excellence, One Piece at a Time

solid wood audiophile furniture

We don’t do mass production. Every piece is designed by Arina Krass and built in-house, one at a time. We prioritize “living” construction methods that allow for the natural movement of solid wood, ensuring your investment lasts for decades.

As designers, we draw inspiration from classic Italian elegance, modern Scandinavian simplicity, and the quiet harmony of Japanese minimalism. We create pieces meant to bring warmth, calm, and beauty into everyday life—furniture that feels good to touch, looks timeless in any home, and reflects the soul of true craftsmanship.

Whether it’s a minimalist nightstand or a multi-tier hi-fi rack, our approach remains the same: precision, honesty in materials, and a deep respect for the craft passed down through three generations. When you bring a piece into your home, you’re welcoming a story, a tradition, and a little piece of our family’s craft.
